University of St. Thomas: Lorenz Hall

I did the majority of my undergraduate work at the University of St. Thomas. Every year around halloween students would begin to bring up the subject of Lorenz Hall and the ghost that allegedly resides there.

The ghost is that of a young sexually frustrated seminarian who committed suicide back when the Hall was a dormitory, or so the story goes. Not much else is known about the ghost, or when this was supposed to have happened. However, there are many who claim to have experienced strange activities happening in the now office building; doors shutting off their own accord, footsteps from an invisible visitor.

I spoke with a gentleman who had one of these encounters in Lorenz Hall. She stated that her husband was alone in the building when he suddenly heard some strange noises. He called out, thinking that it was a student, but he received no response. When the noises started up again, he figured it was the ghost and shouted, "You're dead! You can go." After this event, he has yet to experience another encounter with the ghost. Both he and his wife believe that the ghost has moved on.

Now, I bring up the story of this ghost because Lorenz Hall is to be renovated in the near future. Is the ghost still there? If so, will he become upset due to these renovations? What will he do?..... Stay Tuned...
